Pinsearch tries to protect your credits when AI generation fails. This guide explains when credits are not charged, when refunds can happen, and what to check if a balance looks wrong.

When credits are not charged

Credits are not charged when Pinsearch stops before generation starts. This can happen when:
  • Required fields are missing.
  • Uploaded images are invalid.
  • You do not have active access.
  • Your account does not have enough credits.
  • The request cannot be accepted.
In these cases, there is no credit refund because credits were not deducted.

When credits may be refunded

For credit-using generation, Pinsearch may deduct credits before starting the AI work. If the generation then fails, Pinsearch tries to refund the deducted credits automatically. This applies to actions such as:
  • Creating an article from uploaded images.
  • Creating an article from a topic or keyword.
  • Regenerating an article image.

Partial article refunds

Sometimes Pinsearch can create part of an article, but one or more items or images fail. When that happens, Pinsearch may keep the partial article and refund the failed parts. For example:
  • An image-based article may refund credits for images that could not be completed.
  • A topic-based article may refund credits for incomplete listicle items.
The article may still appear in your Library as a partial draft.

Where to see refunds

Open Settings > Credits & Usage and check Recent credit activity. Refunds appear as positive credit activity and show the balance after the refund.

If an automatic refund fails

If Pinsearch cannot complete an automatic refund, the app may show a message telling you to contact support. When you contact support, include:
  • The article topic or title.
  • Whether you used uploaded images or a topic.
  • The approximate time the generation failed.
  • Any visible refund or error message.

Actions that are free

Some AI actions do not use credits, so they do not need refunds. For example, generating Pin titles and descriptions is free. If that action fails, your credit balance should not change.
