# Choose automation sources

> Use website posts, Pinterest topics, written lists or Project keywords.

A source decides which items enter your automation. Choose one at the beginning of the flow.

## My website posts

Enter a website and choose **All**, **Only new** or **Older than 3 months**. Set **Posts a week** from 1 to 30.

Pinsearch reads the site's public posts. WordPress sites can expose categories and tags for filtering; other sites use the posts available through their sitemap. If filters are unavailable, the builder explains this.

* With categories selected, posts can match any of those categories.
* With tags selected, posts can match any of those tags.
* With both selected, a post must match the category filter and the tag filter.

Posts with no Pins yet go first. A post is not reused in the normal flow; the older-post option can revisit it after the three-month interval. **Only new** is checked on recurring runs, so it does not mean the automation publishes a Pin immediately when your website publishes a post.

Changing the website clears category and tag choices because they belong to the previous site.

## Find topics

Enter **Your niche**, choose 1–7 **Topics a week**, and decide whether to **Time topics to the season**. This chooses topics from Pinterest research rather than from a list you wrote yourself.

Seasonal timing can prepare content ahead of demand, such as Christmas topics before December. Review the actual topics and generated articles before approving publication.

## My topics list

Choose **A list I write** to enter one topic per line, or **A project** to use saved keywords. Set 1–7 topics per week.

For a Project, choose **Most searched first** or **As saved**. Each saved keyword becomes an article once; keywords saved to the Project later can enter future runs. Related keywords from the same group can support the article.

<Tip>
  Use a Project source when you want to select the topics yourself through research, then let the automation handle production.
</Tip>

## When nothing is available

A source can run out of unused posts or topics. Check the website, filters and saved list before assuming the automation has failed. Add new topics or save more keywords to its Project when you want more work to enter the flow.
