# Regenerate an article image

> Regenerate a supported article image from the Article Editor and understand save and credit requirements.

Use **Regen** when one of the generated article images does not fit the section well enough.

Regeneration creates a new version of the selected image while keeping it connected to the article section.

## When Regen appears

The **Regen** button appears only for images Pinsearch can regenerate.

It may not appear for:

* Uploaded images.
* External images.
* Images that do not have enough generation details saved with them.

## Save before regenerating

Pinsearch requires the article to be saved before regenerating an image.

If you have unsaved edits and click **Regen**, Pinsearch asks you to save the article first.

<Warning>
  Save your article before regenerating an image. This keeps the image update tied to the latest saved version of the draft.
</Warning>

## Credit cost

Regenerating an article image uses **2 credits**.

If regeneration fails after credits are taken, Pinsearch attempts to return those credits automatically.
